Poem: I Wanna Let the Naysayers and Haters Go

Smile!

I wanna let the naysayers and haters go
gone with the wind
you once promised me for eternity
a wilted flower on the table, a blueish tear
This will be the last you hear from me,
you once promised me for eternity
you once promised me for eternity
for when the time comes, the shadow fades
your support left me

The work I do
Is not what it seems to be anymore
I am but a tool
For others to gain
The peer movement that I love so much
Has been Tainted by Greed, Power, and Control

My soul is dark
My heart is cold
My spirit is broken
My dreams unfulfilled
This will be the last you hear from me,
you once promised me until the end of time
there is only anger, jealousy, and revenge
an empty jar on the table instead of a golden heart
a sheep that is actually a wolf
may wretchedness and conviction come upon those who do harm to others

This won’t be the last you will hear from me,
I will rise up bigger and better
All my needs shall be met
For my God supplies all my needs because His bounty is endless
My career shall flourish beyond anything I have done in the past
My reward will not come from man but from God My Favor

So let the naysayers and the haters go
I will let the naysayers and the haters go
They are not worth losing my life and livelihood for!

This poem, “I Wanna Let the Naysayers and Haters Go,” navigates the complex landscape of emotional and moral challenges within professional environments. It is a poignant reminder of the real impact these issues can have on mental health and well-being, particularly in peer worker spaces. The poem encourages readers not to ignore or silence those who voice legitimate concerns about their workplace experiences. Instead, it advocates for a culture of empathy, open communication, and respect for confidentiality. This reflection underscores the need to support one another in overcoming workplace adversities, fostering an environment where psychological safety and personal growth are paramount.
